Hampton Park
Hampton Park is located on the South Gippsland Highway, which is the Melbourne’s south-east, about 37 km from the CBD. The area has been one of the fastest growing new suburbs in Melbourne over the last ten years.
The original development of Hampton Park dates from the post World War 1 era, when the area around Somerville Road was subdivided. Significant development of the area commenced in the 1970s.
Till date, the Hampton Park area has significant areas of land remaining for development. Today it is a growing residential area that has experienced an increase in population from 1996 to 2001. This increase in population has occurred due to an increase in the dwelling stock from 1996 to 2001.
Furthermore, it has been one of the major areas of new residential developments in the south-east growth corridor. High proportions (31%) of the suburbs labour force are employed in the manufacturing sector.
The Local Government Area is the City of Casey.
